Forgiveness!
How can you forgive? Is it even possible to forgive someone for hurting us? Betrayal comes today in so many ways; Spouses betray each other Parents betray children Coworkers/Employers Family members Friends In addition, as Christians we sometimes hurt each other as well. How do you move on, how can you mend a broken heart? We unable to move forward because we are unable to let go of the pain, that someone caused us. We can’t move on even though that person may not even know or care that we are hurting. Forgiveness, is not for the person that wronged you, its more for you! Without forgiving the person your unable to move, unable to love, and unable to trust again. Forgiveness takes trust, in God. You are going to have to trust God enough to give Him your pain and to deal with the people that wrong you. Its not your job to get even, God will handle it in His way and His timing. You have to be able to trust that no matter how horrible your pain was, God will not just fix it, but He will make you stronger because of it. Genesis 50:15-21 15 When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?" 16 So they sent word to Joseph, saying, "Your father left these instructions before he died: 17 'This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.' Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father." When their message came to him, Joseph wept. 18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. "We are your slaves," they said. 19 But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. Finally, think of how God forgave you. Colossians 1:21-22 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— Can you do any less that forgive someone when God took on immeasurable pain and suffering for you and never once held it against you? Can you do any less than to forgive when God looked at us in our worst state of sin, yet because of Christ forgave us and never reminds us of it? Isaiah 43:25 25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. There is so much freedom in forgiveness! There is so much peace and so much power! Find yours today, by “Forgiving and Forgetting!” |
