Patience!

Remember the fable called the Tortoise and the Hare?

The rabbit is the swiftest and fastest animal in the race and it appears
that his speed will guarantee him victory. But it’s the patience of the small tortoise that
wins the race instead. “Slow and steady wins the race” he said at the finish line.

He would have a hard time convincing any of us today to do anything slow because this is the now generation!

We want everything now. We have fast food, fast cars, and fast lifestyles.

No wonder the hardest thing for any of us to do is to simply, “Wait.” We fail to see the things we miss, our children growing, friendships, life and a relationship with God. Because of our impatience we quickly jump into the wrong relationships, jobs, financial obligations, and other decisions that should have been carefully thought out.

It’s only after our quick: thinking, eating, spending, or living has gotten us into trouble that we stop, feeling utterly exhausted, frustrated, and without hope.
In the echo of your own condemnation is the voice of others yelling those famous words, “You should have waited!”

Patience trusts God more and ourselves less in the decisions we make. It’s allowing things to happen in Gods perfect timing for our lives rather than our knee jerk reaction to our impulses.

Do you want to be successful in the decisions you make? Do you want to win the race like the Tortise?

Here’s what to do;

Hebrews 12:1-2
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2. looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith

The next time you are caught up in the “Fast lane” remember with Christ you have all eternity!
